If you have questions about how to apply before you get started, the steps below will guide you through creating an account and gathering the items needed to complete your application. Once you’ve started an application, you can return to it at any time, using the same email address and password to log in to submit it or update your contact information.

Before you begin your application, you should determine what type of undergraduate student you will be. Indicating your correct “student type” will ensure you get all the questions and application fields you need.

  • Most students going to college right after high school will apply as first-year students.
  • If you have taken courses at a two- or four-year school, and have 12 or more semester hours of college credit to transfer to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ as a traditional undergraduate student, you should apply as a (see “Special Situations” below for other transfer options for nursing and adult learners).
  • If you are coming to school in the United States on a student visa, you will be an —either international first-year, international transfer, or international exchange.
  • If you would just like to take a few courses at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳, but are not seeking a bachelor’s degree, you can register as a .

Some majors—such as nursing, education, athletic training, and —have specific additional application processes and prerequisites, which you can learn more about as you explore those programs. If you’ve never logged in to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳’s admission system online, the first thing you’ll do as part of your application is . Check your email and follow the instructions we’ve sent to verify your account, and you’ll be able to log in and start your application.

Along with your online application, we will need some more information in order to make an admission decision. You’ll need to submit official high school and/or college transcripts, one academic reference, and a personal essay. Prospective students will not be required to submit test scores for admission. Students who have already tested and wish to submit their scores may do so, and submitting test scores can only help, not hurt, your chance of admission. For more details see our full admission standards.

Test Scores and Minimum Standards

Students who enroll at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ represent a wide range of backgrounds and have attended high schools or colleges all over the country and the world. No matter where you’re from, it’s important to make sure you’re ready for the academic rigor of college coursework. .

Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is integral to any college application process. Starting December 1, 2024, you can submit a FAFSA for the 2024–25 academic year. We recommend Illinois residents file no later than February 1 to ensure eligibility for the Illinois MAP Grant. °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳’s FAFSA code is 001735

To slim down the paperwork, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ uses your FAFSA results to determine what University grants or loans you may be eligible for; there is no additional financial aid application form. .

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ uses a rolling admission policy, which means we make admission decisions based on the completion of each individual application (including supplemental materials). After your application file is complete, you can expect an admission decision within two weeks.

After you receive your acceptance letter and email, your next step is to confirm your intent to enroll at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳. You’ll receive a second email that includes your °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ ID and instructions for  and email address. This is an important step and must be done before you can confirm your place by making your tuition deposit of $200.
